- PETE SCHMIDT
- BIOGRAPHY
A heartfelt
singer-songwriter poised to maintain an element of rock-n-roll flair in
his music, Pete Schmidt continues to soar as a prominent acoustic rocker.
Raised in Alpharetta, Georgia, he developed a fascination for music at the
age of 14. But it was only “through endless experimentation” that the
23-year-old honed his skills as an intricately harmonious guitar player.
Nowadays, Schmidt develops his golfing skills when he’s not taking
center stage touring across the country.
Schmidt’s recent full-length debut “No Safe Bet” has garnered
attention nationwide due to its alluring rhythms and sincere lyrics.
Paired with his distinctly passionate voice, Schmidt is able to exude
emotion throughout the album, which features the intensity expected from a
singer-songwriter with the pop-rock sensibility to launch label-worthy
success.
His honest songwriting comes from the heart, as can be felt from the
electrically-charged song, “All of Us” to the romantically-apologetic
track, “Make It Up to You.” "Graduation" was remastered from
his 2001 EP “On Your Way to Fly”, and features an alternative
rock-based background that keeps the tune smooth while Schmidt experiments
with his diversely-ranged voice.
“Being a songwriter, I tend to evolve
more than change. I’m always going to keep that certain uniqueness about
myself, and all I’ve really done is mature with it,” says Schmidt.
“I find myself learning very cool and different things as time goes on
and I guess I try to incorporate that into my style.”
Schmidt has shared the stage with national acts including Jason Mraz,
Everclear, David Gray and Glen Phillips (Toad the Wet Sprocket). In
addition, Pete was invited by Atlanta’s Star 94 to open for Norah Jones.
Industry ears are perking up to hear Schmidt’s rootsy, soulful songs as
he prepares to play alongside Gavin DeGraw.
With significant touring and the power of word-of-mouth, Schmidt has
established himself as a noteworthy artist in the acoustic rock scene,
while maintaining an extensive underground following. CURB Magazine
recently declared that he “is quickly gaining a reputation as an artist
to watch,” while Smother.net pegged his style as “the WB sound.”
He has already established dedicated fans across the country, whose
support helped launch his albums to top slots at Awarestore.com. His music
is currently available on iTunes.
